 ADMINISTRATIVE DIVISION

Commander   
The Administrative Division is under the command of Lieutenant Tim Holcomb (left).  Lt. Holcomb began his law enforcement career with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department in 1984.  He transferred to the city of Vestavia Hills in 1985 and was promoted to Lieutenant in 2005.  He attended college at Columbia Southern University.

Records
Records is responsible for archiving and maintaining all official police reports. The Uniform Crime Reports required by the F.B.I and the Alabama Criminal Justice System is prepared by this section.  Records is supervised by Sgt. Tommy Burch.   


Communications
Communications is under the joint direction of the Vestavia Hills Police and Fire Departments.  Communications is responsible for routing all emergency and service calls for the City of Vestavia Hills.  Dispatchers provide computer searches for wanted fugitives and stolen property. They retrieve information from the National Crime Information Center and the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center. They also enter missing and wanted persons, stolen property, and bulletins into these systems.  Communications is supervised by John Hairston (left).  You may reach him via email by the provided link or telephone at (205) 978-0214.



D.A.R.E./S.R.O.
Police Officers in this assignment teach Vestavia Hills students about the law, conflict resolution, the dangers of drug, alcohol, and tobacco use, as well as maintain a safe environment in which to learn.  D.A.R.E./S.R.O. is supervised by Sgt. Marty Caffee, the School Resource Officer for the High School.  To learn more about these two programs, follow these links: D.A.R.E and S.R.O. 

 

 


 Training 
Sgt. Jeff Stewart coordinates all training for new Police Officers, as well as continued education for established Officers. The Department’s commitment to extensive training insures that each Officer is prepared to provide the Citizens of Vestavia Hills with the best of service and protection.  Continued training is also vital to each Officer’s ability to resolve potentially dangerous situations in a safe and efficient manner.  Sgt.
