The Jefferson/Shelby county area has experienced a significant increase in property crimes in the recent months, especially vehicle break-ins and residential burglaries.  We urge all citizens to take necessary precautions by securing their homes and vehicles.  Do not leave any valuables in your vehicle and activate your car alarm if you have one. 

Please review the attached documents for other ideas on how to safeguard you, your family as well as your property. 

We also wish to remind the citizens of Vestavia Hills about City Ordinance Number 2236, prohibiting the parking or driving on public sidewalks within the city.

The City of Vestavia Hills is one of the safest cities in Alabama with one of the lowest crime rates (click this link to see the latest figures).  The Police Department takes pride in serving and protecting this community, and we look forward to assisting you.  The Vestavia Hills Police Department operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week from two locations within the city.  The West Precinct serves the largest section of the City and is located in the Municipal Complex at 513 Montgomery Highway.  The East Precinct serves the Cahaba Heights and Liberty Park sections of Vestavia Hills, and is located at 3241 Cahaba Heights Road.  If I can be of any assistance to you, feel free to email me via the link to my name above or contact me by telephone at (205) 978-0109.

The following link will take you to a Medical Alert Form. This form is designed to assist the Police and Fire Departments in meeting your needs. If you or someone at your address has a special medical need, please follow the instructions on the enclosed form, fill in the pertinent information, and submit the completed form to the Vestavia Hills Police Department.

We are also providing a form for the business owners in Vestavia Hills. The purpose of this form is to assist the Vestavia Hills Police and Fire Departments in the event of an incident or emergency at your place of business. For the Police and the Fire Department to have this information is particularly important if the incident or emergency occurs after hours. We strongly encourage business owners to complete and submit the Business Emergency Contact Information Form.


 

Organization of the Vestavia Hills Police Department

The Police Department is organized in three Divisions:

I. Administrative Division

This division is under the command of Lieutenant Tim Holcomb.  It consists of four sub-divisions:

  • Records
  • Communication/Dispatch 
  • D.A.R.E./S.R.O.
  • Training
