The first draft of the Comprehensive Plan for Vestavia Hills was presented in a public forum held on December 4, 2003 by the Mayor, City Council and the Long Range Planning Committee. Additional public meetings were also held to inform the Citizens of Vestavia Hills, and to seek their input.
To further facilitate Citizen participation and input as this Draft Plan moves toward formal adoption, the entire plan is presented on the City Web Site. Also, provisions are made for Citizens of Vestavia Hills to participate in in the establishment of priorities for the implementation of the plan.
Upon hearing and reviewing public comment on the first draft of the proposed City Comprehensive Plan, the Vestavia Hills Long-Range Planning Committee (LRPC) has updated the draft plan and are submitting it for review to the City Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council. The LRPC will request a working session with the Commission and Council to review and discuss the Plan. After this review and incorporation of any changes that may be identified, the LRPC will then submit the proposed Comprehensive Plan to the Planning and Zoning Commission for adoption. Upon adoption by Planning and Zoning, the Comprehensive Plan will then be submitted to the City Council for final approval.
Prior to adoption proceedings, there will be a posting period and public hearing on the proposed Plan. Copies of the new draft are available for review in the Mayor's Office at City Hall. (You may also view or download the draft plan in pdf format as provided below).
The revised draft plan is presented as twenty separate PDF (Portable Document Format) documents. Some of these documents are large. They can be downloaded to your computer (and printed) or printed in part, or completely, directly from this Web Site. To access a document, click on its link under Report Section (see table below):
The Mayor, City Council and the Long Range Planning Committee strongly encourage your involvement by reviewing the plan presented here (complete, with maps), by providing your feedback to the Long Range Planning Committee, as well as through participation in future public meetings where the Comprehensive Plan will be discussed.
