Mr. David Carrington currently serves as President of the Vestavia Hills City Council. He is a member of the Mayor’s Standing Annexation Committee, the Mayor’s Communication and Information Committee, the Mayor’s Financial Advisory Committee, and the Mayor’s Economic Development Committee. In addition, David is a member of the Council’s Ways and Means Committee and the Council’s Legislative Review Committee.

David and his wife, Sonia, have two adult sons, Matt and Steven, both of whom are products of the Vestavia Hills school system; a daughter-in-law, Mallory, who taught first grade at Vestavia Hills Liberty Park Elementary; two grandsons, Wills and Owen; and a granddaughter, Kate.

David has been an active member of the community, since moving into the city in 1984, first as a youth coach; next as a youth Sunday School teacher; and more recently as a class member, board member and past president of Leadership Vestavia Hills; a board member and vice president of the Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce; and a board member of Vestavia Voters with Vision. David is chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of RacingUSA.com, the most frequently-shopped, independently-owned store on the internet for NASCAR merchandise. He was named Alabama’s Gold Award Retailer of the Year in 2005 and was recently recognized as one of Birmingham’s Top Entrepreneurs by the Birmingham Business Journal. David and his wife are active members of Shades Mountain Baptist Church.
