The
Patrol Division is composed of uniformed officers
who are responsible for patrolling the citys
streets, responding to calls for service, conducting
preliminary criminal investigations, responding
to emergencies, serve misdemeanor warrants, enforcing
traffic laws and investigating accidents.
The
Patrol Division is divided into three units:
- Patrol
Unit
- Patrol
Officers answer calls for service, respond
to emergencies, and patrol the citys
streets to detect and deter crime.
- Traffic
Unit
- Traffic
Officers focus on investigating traffic
accidents and enforcing traffic laws by
targeting offenses that are the cause of
most accidents. They focus on locations
that frequently are the site of traffic
accidents. The Patrol Division handles approximately
3000 calls for service every month.
- Warrants
Unit
- Warrant
Officers serves misdemeanor warrants issued
by the municipal court.
The
Division is also divided in two precincts:

The West Precinct is headquartered in the City
Municipal Complex and is commanded by
Lt.
David Whitfield.
- The
East Precinct is headquartered in Cahaba Heights
and is commanded by Lt.
Rick Miller.
