Vestavia Hills Police Department has multiple Community
Service Programs that we hope you, the Citizens
of Vestavia Hills, will find helpful. These programs
are described below. Each program has contact information,
e-mail links and links to required forms whenever
appropriate. You can view, print, or download forms
by following the instructions below. It is our hope
that this will save you at least one trip to City

Vacation
Patrol Request
| If
you are going on vacation or away from your home
for an extended period, the Vestavia Hills Police
Department will increase patrols at your residence.
To request this service, you need to fill out a
form and turn that form in to the Communication
Dispatcher prior to your departure. Go to the Police
Department in the Vestavia Hills Municipal Complex.

Juvenile
Patrol Request
| If
you are going to be away from your home and you
must leave an older, responsible teen at home alone,
the Vestavia Hills Police Department will increase
patrols at your residence. You must complete and
sign a Juvenile Patrol Request Form and return it
to the police department. These forms are available
at the Communication Dispatch(823-1153) or Police

Patrol
Request
| If
you would like the police department to increase
patrols in your area for a specific purpose, (such
as speeders, running stop signs, blocking the street,
etc.) call the Communication Dispatch at 823-1153
and ask for a increased patrols in your area. |

Traffic
Control Device Request
| If
you want to request an additional Traffic Control
Device on your street, or a change in a Traffic
Control Device on your street, the police department
will consider your request. You must complete an
Application for Traffic Control Signs and submit
it to the Chief of Police for review and consideration.

Unlock
Vehicle
| If
you happen to lock your keys in your car at home
or while shopping in Vestavia Hills, call Communication
Dispatch as 823-1153. An officer will be dispatched
to your location to assist you. If you want the
officer to attempt to unlock your vehicle you must
complete a release form. If the officer can not
unlock your vehicle he/she will assist you by calling
a locksmith. |

Nosey
Neighbor Program
| This
is a Crime Prevention and Block Watch Program designed
for neighbors to watch out for each other. If your
neighborhood would like to start a Nosey Neighbor
Program, please call Police Records at 978-0124.
The Vestavia Hills Police Department will assist
you in organizing the program and discuss home security
and personal safety information with the program's
participants. |

Substance
Abuse/Crime Reporting Hotline
|
This
is a confidential phone line for concerned residents
to report drug and or alcohol abuse information.
Concerned citizens may also use this number to
report criminal activity and to assist police
by providing tips and information about an ongoing
criminal investigation. Call the Hotline at 978-0228.
Concerned
citizens may also use this web site to report
information they feel the police should have.

Youth
Services/Juvenile Officer
| Our
Youth Service Officer is available to assist parents
with juvenile related offense or incidents. Referral
and support information is available. Please contact
Sgt.
John Grainger for

Fingerprinting
| The
Vestavia Hills Police Department provides fingerprinting
services. The cost is $5.00 per card. Groups of
5 persons or more should call Police Records at
978-0124 to schedule a time to better accommodate
your group. Due to manpower demands you may be asked
to come at a different time, if all officers are
busy. |

Police
Reports
|
Copies
of Traffic Accident Reports and Police Incident/Offense
Reports are available at Police Records. This
Office is open Monday Friday from 7:30A
to 4:30P. Copies of reports are $3.00 each. You
can mail your request, if so include a self addressed
stamped envelope. Also in your request, please
reference your case number and the name of the
reporting party, with date and location. If you
have any questions please call 978-0124.
If
you have been involved in a traffic accident that
resulted in death, personal injury, or damage
to any one owner in excess of $250, you are required
by Alabama Law to file Form SR-13 with the Alabama
Department of Public Safety. This form can be
obtained from the Vestavia Hills Police Department
(phone number 823-1153). If you need directions,

Alerts
| This
program is designed to assist the Police and Fire
Departments in meeting the needs of citizens that
have special medical problems. If you or someone
at your address has special medical needs, please
follow the instructions on the Medical Alert Form,
fill in the pertinent information, and submit the
completed form to the Vestavia Hills Police Department.

Business
Emergencies
| The
purpose of this program is to gather information
in advance to assist the Vestavia Hills Police and
Fire Departments in the event of an incident or
emergency at a Vestavia Hills place of business.
A form has been devised to collect this information.
If we have the requested information, both the Police
and Fire Departments will be better prepared to
serve you, the business owner, particularly if an
incident or emergency arises after hours, on week-ends
and holidays. We strongly encourage business owners
to complete and submit the Business Emergency Contact
Information Form to the Police Department. |
